If there is one thing that the Dragon Ball franchise is known for, it’s the many iconic transformations that it has introduced over the years. Due to the importance that the series places on the character’s growth in strength, many credit this franchise as being the one to lay the groundwork for why transformations have become a Shonen anime staple.
As such, the heroes of Dragon Ball have reached multiversal levels of strength due to the incredible power they unlock through their transformations. However, the villains of the series have done the same, so in this article, let’s go over the most powerful villain transformation in the entire series to see which one is truly the strongest of them all.

Merged Zamasu Was A Cruel And Malevolent God
Arc: Goku Black Arc
One of the most dangerous characters in the history of the franchise came earlier on in Super. Due to Zamasu’s complex plan to erase every mortal from existence, both versions of the evil Kai fused into the terrifying Merged Zamasu, whose strength is remembered to this day as being some of the greatest in the series.
Not only was Goku Black’s immense strength at its peak in this form, but it also utilized the indestructible body of Zamasu, bringing forth a powerhouse who was going toe-to-toe against Vegito Blue. Of course, his body did take some damage and mutated, but the sheer destructive power that Zamasu held in this state is still some of the greatest that fans have ever seen.

Moro Became The First Villain To Use Ultra Instinct
Arc: Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc
Throughout the plot line, the titular villain became one of the few antagonists of Dragon Ball who underwent a ton of transformations in a single story arc, each of which was far stronger and scarier than the last. However, as a fighter, Moro reached his peak upon absorbing Merus’s power to awaken Ultra Instinct for himself.
Normally, Ultra Instinct is the technique of the Angels that is said to be so difficult to use that only the greatest Martial Artists can do so. Moro, of course, didn’t train for it, instead relying on his energy-stealing powers to absorb Merus so that he could use Ultra Instinct for himself, becoming the first villain to ever do so, and only the third non-Angel character shown with this ability.

Planet Moro Was The Villain’s Peak Of Raw Strength
Arc: Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc
Once Moro got the ability to use Ultra Instinct, he proved to be impossibly powerful, to the point where he matched Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku. However, this wasn’t the peak of his strength, since that would come later as a response of the overwhelming angelic power coursing through him upon absorbing Merus.
Since the energy was so great, Moro’s mind was broken, and he eventually merged with the Earth itself to become a mindless beast whose entire essence was focused on destruction. At this stage, even Goku could not harm him, forcing Vegeta to gather the energy of every Z-Fighter and other inhabitants to revive Goku to deal the final blow with his Spirit Avatar.

Gas Became The Most Powerful Fighter In Universe 7
Arc: Granolah Arc

As the battle against Granolah raged on in the arc bearing his name, the true villains were eventually revealed to be Elec and the Heeters, who had been manipulating scenes from the shadows, only to strike at the most opportune moment. This is when Gas revealed himself upon having made the wish to become the most powerful mortal in the entire universe.
Here, he fought against Granolah and Goku, though his strength still wasn’t sufficient to get the job done. However, this is when he removed the ceremonial head covering to awaken and control his unparalleled latent power, upon which he became so strong that he was taking on Goku, Vegeta, and Granolah all at once in their strongest forms, though his body was decaying as a result.

Black Frieza Is As Strong As The Destroyers
Arc: Granolah Arc
Frieza has always been the most iconic and beloved of all the Dragon Ball villains, which is why he has appeared in various story arcs throughout the franchise’s history. However, his most incredible return was in the closing chapters of the Granolah arc, where he came back sporting a brand-new transformation that dwarfed even the most powerful forms of the heroes.
Despite the Saiyans being in their ultimate forms that utilized the Divine Techniques, neither could even hold a candle to Black Frieza’s strength and speed, as the villain knocked them out of these states in just a single hit. This shows that, even at their multiversal levels of strength, Goku and Vegeta have a long way to go before they can face the Galactic Tyrant.

Infinite Zamasu Is The Strongest Villain In History
Arc: Goku Black Arc
Breaking away from the tradition of Dragon Ball villains getting stronger as the story moves forward, Zamasu’s ultimate state changed this trend. Although he showed his terrifying power throughout the arc while in the Merged Zamasu state, his final form was easily among the most powerful characters that the anime industry has ever seen.
Using the Spirit Sword in his Super Saiyan Rage state, Future Trunks somehow managed to destroy Merged Zamasu’s body. However, instead of killing him, it released his essence into the universe, which was so potent that it immediately infected the multiverse and was even bleeding through to all the timelines of Universe 7. Nothing the heroes could do could stop this omniversal threat, which is why Zeno was called to erase the entire universal timeline to put the villain down for good.
Dragon Ball can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
