Choices in GTA 6 will ‘cut much deeper’ than GTA 5 or RDR2 honor systems

It sounds like Rockstar is leaning hard into the morality and consequences of player actions.

As the world is bracing for the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, it sounds like players will need to do some emotional bracing when the game releases. According to an exclusive by Dazed Digital, choices will have consequences that “cut much deeper” than previous games.

In an exclusive report by Dazed Digital, Thom Waite reported on player choices in Rockstar Games’ upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6. Waite notes that for some players, Jason and Lucia’s story might be their first encounter with a romantic relationship, one where “choices can have repercussions that cut much deeper than Rockstar’s previous titles or ‘honour’ systems that reward conscientious game playing.”

In 2013’s Grant Theft Auto 5, there wasn’t much of an honor system outside of committing crime and attracting police attention. However, Red Dead Redemption 2, which arrived some five years later, featured a more robust Honor system that dictated how protagonist Arthur Morgan interacted with the world and how the world interacted with him.

While the end of Red Dead Redemption 2 remained the same, there were nuances to it based on how players chose to play Arthur. For a lot of players, Red Dead Redemption 2 was an emotional, tear-jerking experience. The fact that Grand Theft Auto 6’s story has consequences that “cut much deeper” than the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2’s, leaves us bracing for the emotional impact Rockstar is no doubt winding up to hit.

But you can’t just have emotional high after emotional high. There needs to be some fun to contrast the tears and it sounds like Rockstar is handling this by letting players get fat or become fit.
